Hi everyone. My partner and our two sons are going on the Alaska 2006 cruise. I am in recovery and was wondering if there are others in recovery (AA, NA, Al-Anon, etc) who would be interested in having a 12-step meeting on the cruise? Sometimes it helps to know there is a safe haven when travelling among friends.

That is good information to know. My partner and I are both in recovery also. I wondered about that myself.
Thanks for posting that--

Hello Everyone:

I have looked at this thread several times but not responded. Today I noticed that it has been viewed more than 200 times...but very few responses...how funny. I know there are more than 3 sober alcoholic/addicts going on this cruise. I too am a friend of Bill's and I truly look forward to the opportunity to sharing this part of my experience in traveling "the road of happy destiny" with everyone. When I first walked through the doors of AA - a long time ago - I never dreamt I would be cruising to Alaska. Being from Alabama I can assure you that the idea of traveling with a ship of gay/gay friendly people wasn't anywhere close to my level consciousness. And yet here I am moving toward that aim. God is so good and I am so blessed. When I get out of the way truly fantastic and unbeleivable things happen. See you all in July. Ann W.

I have been sober for 17 years (by cruise time it will be 18 years). I started out going to meetings but haven't been to one in probably 15 years!!! Wow. Maybe I will venture out to one on the cruise. I have said that for the last two cruises, but'ya never know. Maybe I'll see you there!!! Take care. ~J~

Hi,

The Friends of Bill W group on board was amazing! I could not go on the first cruise, at the time I was VERY pregnant with my daughter and would have risked giving birth on board (LOL)!

I "got" sober in Chicago and have since lived in Europe and now on the East Coast for the past decade or so. I was absolutely amazed to see and reacquaint with several sober and even formerly sober women from Chicago.

I even made some new friends.

The entire cruise is a beautiful experience - go - you will love it!

The meetings last year were usually around 6:00 PM. Many of us are returning again this year and hopefully we will need a bigger room. The meetings were awesome!

That was a great letter. I am Sober 13 years on June 23. I would have never been able to have enjoyed the life,13 yr. partnership, or our wonderful 7 yr. old-and one on the way. God is great-he saved us from a one way spiral down. I have enjoyed many trips without tripping:) Looking forward to meeting you on the cruise-God Bless-PAPAJIM

I saw how many people viewed this posting and wanted to add something as well. My stepdad has been sober for more than 25 yrs. I have been to more meetings than I can count. I am so glad that they will be having meetings for those interested aboard the ship. We truly R Family.

Hi all!

I just found this thread! I have been following the Alaska Cruise posts until a couple of days ago when I also started hitting "new posts." Dummy me, I thought that is where all the Alaska pertinent stuff would be. Not so obviously! I overheard my partner tell our our oldest AA buddy yesterday that I have been online 24/7 (not true, it's an honest program) trying to learn last minute info, plus I am getting really excited and maybe a little anxious. I sure hope I have gotten everything done. We sure hope to meet you all in the rooms! See you all soon! :D Jolly
