Hi there, I'm Ben, 24, from Chicago.

Neither myself nor my mom have ever been ANY type of cruise, and since she's not a big fan of hot weather, I figure treating her to a cruise to Alaska would be a great Christmas gift. (She doesn't know yet!)

Hope to see you soon

Me NO I don't work for R family.
I believe very deeply in what they have created.
The Boards are a great way to get info and for people to have a sense of
how magical an R Family cruise is.
I have been on all of the Cruises.
I spend a lot of time working on my computer.
Which allows me to post a lot.
I have a vested interest in R Family being around for my kids and my
Grandkids.
It is the happiest week of my year.
I look forward from one trip to the next cause
I know
I will see old friends and make new.
R Family has made it possible for me to meet so many beautiful people.
Some have become friends and some have become R Family forever.

yes its right across so I can take the scooter right over and not have to do that long pier to the boat and then to the room it will make my life alto easer. They say the Vallie's will take the suit cases over to the pier for a few dollars

By the way I got my own scooter now so everyones toes will be safe but the walls better watch out I'm still having trouble with them

We leave on July 9th at 4:20 pm and get to Seattle by 7:25pm
our flight is with American Airlines Flight 269, departs at 4:20 PM

Coming home we leave on the 20th the flight is at 7.45am what a ungodly hour again American Airlines
Flight 268, departs at 7:45 AM
Price $ 399.21 each and they are both non stop

it was the best price we could find

Did anyone else get all the things they need for the trip as Holidays Gifts

That all for now I need to go find where Rebecca hide the suitcases
The Hunt begins

See you all in 157 days

Hi Cheryl and everyone else. Just wanted to let you know I'll be coming back for RFamily vacation #2. Rebecca and Cathy we have to get together some day, as soon as all this white cold stuff goes away. Also, I'm sure we will eventually plan some sort of pre-cruise get together in Seattle, and just wanted to express my support in eventually planning one.

Hi,

Well I have been a LONG time reader of the forums and a 1st time poster and 1st time traveller.

My name is Laura and my partner is Sue.

We will be on the July cruise with our friends, Casey, Loretta and Traci.

If anyone is invited to the precruise dinner we'd love to attend. We will be arriving in Seattle on the 8th and leaving on the 20th - we've added days around the cruise as we have never been there.

We are all so excited about the trip honestly we can't wait!

Hello all, This is Marcie (aka Seattle-lite) I would love to facilitate the pre-cruise get together. From what I understand, most out of towners will be staying downtown close to the cruise dock. Its best to reserve a spot that can accomodate us as well as be reasonably priced. I will start a name list and if you could just add your names like I did below, that would be grand.

Hey Marcie,
That would be great if you could facilitate the precruise get together. I planned 08 here in
San Diego. Its important that the resteraunt be child friendly and have a childrens menu. We had about 80 people attend, there seems to be lots of precruise interest this trip so I would plan for more than that.

If I can help you put it together. all the better. We will arrive in Seattle on the 6'th of July as I have rented a large house for the 5 days pre cruise for my big group. Let me know what you think, my name is Stephanie and I travel with my girlfriend and 7 boy children! along with a posse of 6 others this trip.

How nice of you to offer.I was close to voluntering you.You have been very helpful.
We had it at Nick'e Rocko's I can't remember the name. The big Seafood place on the Pier last time.It worked well having everyone with a seperate check. This avioded having to BOOK a place pay in advance and gurantee a minumum.Than it gets risky.
Hi Steph nice of you to stop by.
I hope the Team is doing well.
Well now we got a dinner going.
Starting to feel like we got a CRUISE coming.

We would definitely love to attend the pre-cruise dinner. There are four of us, 2 adults and 2 children...our oldest is 12 so she might not be considered a child. We are arriving on the 9th in the morning. I don't know if that makes a difference.

So I must confess I have already started packing...I am way too excited.

Hey guys.Suggestion.You might want to wait until we get closer to the Cruise before actualy booking a place. The count will change between now and than..The place that we used last time was perfect.Ashes could give you the name.I asssume you know it the BIG seafoood place right on the Pier.
I know you are excited.Believe me this trip is going to be more than you could ever imagine.
I don't want you locking yourself into a reservation that you have to guarentee a minimum and it end up costing you money.....
The one that I threw in New York went well it was a small place that they opened just for us.People could talk and get to know eachother..It was reasonable..Good for the kids also.

This will be our first R Family vacation, so we thought we would do it right and take the whole family! There are six of us going...

Paul and his partner Tim
Michelle and her partner Irene
McKenzie, who is Michelle's & Irene's daughter
Logan, who is Paul's, Tim's, Michelle's and Irene's son

Paul and Michelle are biological parents of Logan
Tim is Logan's "Papa Tin"
Irene is Logan's "Nina"
McKenzie is Logan's sister "Dazzy" and biological daughter of Michelle

Logan will just turn six (his birthday is the day before we set sail, 7/10)
McKenzie will be 14
Papa Tin, Daddy, Mommy and Nina are... we ain't tellin!!

Mommy, Nina, Dazzy and Logan live in Tucson, AZ
Daddy and Papa Tin live in Phoenix, AZ
The kids live with Mommy and Nina, but they visit Daddy and Papa Tin quite a bit (well, Logan does, McKenzie is busy with her teenage friends and playing sports, so she isn't too excited to visit her "'rich' - at least that's what she thinks" extended family anymore! Ha ha!). We meet half way between Tucson and Phoenix (62 miles) to do the "baby exchange" about once a month.

Logan has eight grandparents (and a huge extended family), so he loves Christmas and birthdays!

So, that's our story and if you're confused... welcome to the family!!

We're all excited to go on a cruise to Alaska, and most importantly to spend it with other families like ours. It'll be an exciting time for all of us.

So, that's our story and if you're confused... welcome to the family!!

We're all excited to go on a cruise to Alaska, and most importantly to spend it with other families like ours. It'll be an exciting time for all of us.

Welcome :) It's our first R family cruise and we are beyond excited :) We don't have children bui there are 5 of us going. My partner Sue and I (laura), Loretta and Traci, and our friend Casey. (It's our first cruise too)

Hi, all. Frankie, Becca and I are counting the days. OK, not literally, we need Kelsy for that. I can count, but I'm just too darn busy at work right now.

For those of you following the Frankie saga, she has graduated PT and has started swimming at the gym with Becca and sometimes me. We still need to get her scooter repaired before the trip. She has been walking really well but will need wheels for those longer distances when we travel.

I'm still trying to decide which airline to fly and which day to fly in. I'm thinking Wednesday, mid day. Has anyone flown on Alaska Airline? We've mostly flown or Northwest but flights with the same pricetag can mean an $150 difference in baggage fees.

Thanks,
Jan

We are flying out of Newark on Alaska Air but it's the first time. We booked with them because we saw the the American Airlines flights were actually on Alaska Air. When I went directly to their website and they had early bird flights at even a cheaper rate .. came to $550 each round trip Newark to Seattle non-stop.

Is there a reason no one uses JetBlue? We have always gotten better deals, better service and it is so much easier to travel with kids. More spacious, less luggage restrictions, no major delays? Are we not using them because they are Utah based? Just wondered.

American and Alaska Air are partners. We went to with them when we went to Seattle last time. Was not a very pleasant experience. They lost our luggage and we missed our connecting flight.
I won't fly with them again unless it is a big price difference.

We love Jet Blue! Have flown them going from CA to NY for both of the past two years for the East Coast R Family Cruise. Do they fly to Seattle? We looked for flights from Northern CA to Seattle via Jet Blue and Jet Blue did not fly that route, so ROAD TRIP for us! Hope Jet Blue flies to Seattle from your city.

There is no comparison. You will not be alone. There are Mixers( planned activities on the daily schedule that you get on your bed nightly so that other single people can meet.)There is a Pre Cruise dinner where you can meet people.I assure you that the people are so friendly there is so much to do you will only be in your room to sleep.
There is also a singles roll call on this thread where you can start meeting people before the Cruise.I say it all the time and I will say it agin.Everyone should experience the magic if only just once.................
of an R Family cruise. There is no better feeling than when we set sail leaving behind all of the realities that we deal with as a commuunity. There is a feeling of pure joy acceptance everyone fits in..Take the plunge SIxfour you will not regret it.Come have dinner with us.
I will introduce you to everyone I know. Also the ones I don't know yet.My future BOAT peeps.....................

Our oldest daughter Danielle "has been there done that" so she is going to spend time with her aunt/uncle in CT and MA. So it will be David and Katie and we are bringing some cruise virgins with us - so be gentle. This waldorf family has been so helpful and amazing since Lisa's death that I thought they would enjoy this. So welcome them along for the crazy ride - Christine, Carlos and their two boys - Zach and Lorenzo. Carlos is a native of Spain so anyone wanting to practice their spanish look him up.

Cheryl your pride outfit had plenty of room. I hope Lori enjoys the graduation and especially college week! It will come together for you as it always does, even if it is last minute. More importantly did you remember to check with the airlines to see how much your shoe suitcase is going to cost you?

I just flew Delta to Oklahoma last weekend for my neices graduation and it occured to me. The one jacket I couldn't pack, but ended up needing, would have cost the same as the extra suitcase. Helps me prioritize. No costumes for Alaska but plenty of clothes options for all. Soon friends...and we can sail away.

Helps me prioritize. No costumes for Alaska but plenty of clothes options for all. Soon friends...and we can sail away.
Hmn that is an issue TJ !! I wonder how many of my matching coats/jackets/suits I can wear on to the plane  It might get a little warm.LOL.
The shoes well thats a no brainer but the matching tops. That is a suitcase all by itself.
Oh my what is one to do ???????
Lets see maybe I can cut it to two checked bags each..A carry on for Lori and I as big as they allow.OMG this is going to be a challege.:)
My brain is mush can't think about it now.
Just got in from a Contract meeting Marathon with the Beaurocrats.
I believe they were a bit surprized.
I got into a bit of a verbal sparring match with the big boss while everyone else was busy sucking up or trying to catch flys with there eyes and mouth wide open. I think half of them went into shock. hahahahahaha
If you don't want to see or here what is in Pandoras Box.
Don't open it. LOL Translation don't ask a question or make a statement if you don't want to hear the truth. BLAH BLAH
Soon we will all be together laughing GAMBLIN.
All will be alright with the world if just for one week.
Now back to my shoes perhaps I can limit myself to 8 pairs
That means I will have to wear the same pair twice.

oh oh oh, I have a fantastic idea! TJ, how about you adopting me for the cruise. I promise to be a handful almost as much as the two children that can't make it, this way, you won't be lonely! And this way you can buy me all the vodka/cranberry with a lime drinks and feed me lots of NY Strip Steaks and Shrimp Cocktails for the entire cruise, just like the other 2 children. I promise to keep you busy, run you ragged, and get on your last gay nerve! I really like this idea. All those in favor, say AYE!

Oh Trucker John, first off the two who aren't coming are probably as old as you. One is forty this year and one is twenty five and neither have depended me for alchohol ever. The ones who are coming either can handle their own bar bill or won't run one up. None of us have ever gone in a specialty restaurant on a cruise and this is like our 7th cruise. I see no advantage for adopting you other than when I say knock it off there isn't one of mine who would DARE defy me even if they wanted to. My children all ages know to walk lightly, quietly and are the extreme case of manners and oddly decorum. I think any of these attributes elude you. I am willing to be proven wrong, starting now......... yes now!

After a year, I finally decided to join in and post...we are Ivy and Laura from San Diego and planning this to be our first (but not last) fFamily cruise!! We're bringing our 3 young sons and my mom (yay!).

I was the 'lucky' one who came up with one of the Theme Night winners...guess now I really SHOULD plan what we're going to wear...;)

We're very excited but as of right now, we're in total chaos as we plan to move on Saturday (needed a much bigger house with 3 growing boys!).

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!

Greetings to all --

My partner (Bob) and I (Bernard) will be cruising with you to Alaska with our two boys Hunter (15) and Anthony (18 months). We are becoming excited more and more each day as we read the forum posts. We see that there is a lot for teens to do. We're wondering whether other families with toddlers under 2 found that there were opportunities on the ship to keep these little ones busy and interested. :)

We were on the East Coast cruise last year with our son who at the time was 11 months old. He had a real nice time in the play area and also had a chance to meet Rosie with in the Nanny area. He enjoy the morning music shows. He had his first ice cream cone on the ship while sitting near the pool. This year, now that he will almost be 2, we are even more excited for him. He will be attending a lot more events, if we have the energy to get him to all of them. He slept in the pack and play to sleep in at night.

They also have a Nanny Service that you can sign up for in the morning. It has a certain amount of slots.Where you take a break and spend some couple time! My friends have used it every trip and been very satisfied. There is also a Play room that R Family sets up for the younger children also a great way to meet other Cruisres. There is a rollong FAQ on the July thread that will give you a lot of helpfull hints.I am gald that you are joining us.If you have anyother questions feel free to ask away.
