We are going to announce an RFV photo contest next week, but we wanted to offer r forum members a special preview.

The only way to get to the contest entry page now is through this link: http://www.rfamilyvacations.com/photo_contest

It is not listed on the site yet.

Rosie is going to be the judge and pick the three best entries. Each winner will receive a Canon Digital Rebel!

As you use it over the next few days, if you encounter any problems, let me know.

Enjoy your weekends!

I see this contest is not open to Canadian residents. We have been on the last three cruises and have some great photos to enter. Can there not be a way for non US residents to enter?

Hi, Rachel.

Two things.

I agree with the comment that it would be great to title the pictures. Being able to add titles would put the pictures in context.

Also, I tried to upload 3 photos and got errors on all three. My camera is 7 megapixils, and that works out to a 1.16 to 1.17 MB image. The limit that you have is 1 MB, which means that the folks with the higher resolution cameras will not be able to enter.

Hey Jan,

The easiest way in Windows to reduce your file size if you don't have a program like Photoshop would be:

1) right click on the picture(s) you want to reduce and
2) select "Send to... Mail recipient"
3) a little box will pop up and ask if you want to make the pictures smaller. It won't affect your original image but will attach a smaller version to a new e-mail message.
4) you can then save this smaller version back to your hard drive and
5) upload to the R Family contest webpage.

My rant.........

It seems that the Canadian govenment won't allow you to enter these types of U.S. contests. However, they will allow you to be married to your partner. As an American, I would trade off a photo contest for being allowed to marry my wife any day. My wife, who I have been with for 17 years, (and she is my wife in my eyes and all eyes of everyone that knows us) are being ripped off by the United States in that respect every single day of our lives!

Canada is governed by a different set of laws for contesting. We have sent the rules to our lawyer in Canada and are waiting on feedback so we can expand the contest and include Canadians. It is a slower process for us than in the U.S. So, know, we have not forgotten Canada, but we do have to respect the laws.

For now, just for fun, could we have a pseudo Canadian contest without the prize. Rosie still judges but we check off a box when we (Canadians) enter that we understand that this is a contest without a prize and for bragging rights only... this way we get to display our shots and feel like we are participating.

please, please.....:D

I seem to keep getting error messages, when i try and download the photos for the contest. Anyone else, have this problem? and have you figured out what went wrong?
