I want to wish all the couples who married in Victoria on our last night of the cruise a great big CONGRATULATIONS and all the best for their future lives together.
I am Canadian and am so proud that our country has legalized same-sex marriage. (Please, please, please don't let it be overturned by Baby Bush's government!) I am also proud that our country has allowed you to legally tie-the-knot as well. I can't think of a more special and poignant place to do it than on the cruise!
My partner and I were married last July 20th (Happy Anniversary to us!) on the day Canada became the 4th country in the world to nationally legalize it. For us, there IS a difference between being committed as partners and being married.
It saddened me to hear of all the trials my American LGBT brothers and sisters have endured and to realize how far you all are from having this human right (not privilege!). I pray that it will happen soon for you!
This cruise was the most amazing experience of my family's lives and I can only imagine how much more memorable it is for all those couples who exchanged vows on it!
Peace out!
