View Full Version : Photo Opportunity

With the ship being sold out, I think that Rosie, and the other stars did not circulate as much as they did in previous years. This is fully understandable as they are onboard to enjoy the trip as well.

I would encourage rFamily to have a meet the stars photo opportunity on the first night. Much like Rosie did for the early slide show this year. Each star could be located in a different bar, and people could line up to get their photo with their favorite celebrity. A donation to the celebrities’ favorite charity could be requested and information about the charity could be distributed. Alternatively, kids from Colage could organize the event and collect donations for Colage.

With the photo opportunity provided, it is very reasonable to request guests not to ask for additional photos and autographs.

Great suggestion and a great way for the kids to learn about fundraising!

I have to argue your comment about not seeing the stars. I saw them everywhere and was a bit concerned that they might think I was stalking them. But, I agree that an appearance in the various bars is not a bad idea.

Too funny-the stalker. I also tried to remain low profile with the celebs-however some approached me which was great-they must have known that I am a Baroness:eek:
All of them were so pleasant accept one that I approached and thanked for performing on the cruise and was dissed-every time I saw this person I then ignored them, except the eve. that I saw this person intoxicated led out of the martini bar, when I had the chance to roll my eyes and say " oh, nice-friends of Bill meet daily!"
Also I must say that audrie M.; Susan Powter;Esera,Rosie,Keli,Sharon were not divas but just great people. It was their vacation Too, I respect their space-it must be torture to be a celeb. You can't eat a meal in peace-or room about without people chasing you and asking for something-"Hello" they have a mouth full of food-not a good time to abscound!
I was so thankful to be on the same boat as them-they are stellar stars:cool:

I am going to have to also disagree with the stars not circulating. I saw and spoke with Nancy Opel everyday(Loved her as Evita - what a kind, lovely woman). Also, as advertised by Rosie, Sharon Gless was in the Casino and did give me a great big hug and chatted with me about QAF.:)

Hey PapaJim,
We were so glad to see that someone else also was snubbed by a certain performer. We thought we were the only ones. 2 times we tried to compliment this performer and 2 times this performer did more than snub us, but was downright rude. We even witnessed this performer become very aggitated when a very small boy tried to say Hi.
Oh well, the other performers were so gracious and we feel so fortunate to have been on the same ship with such talent.
Our family had an amazing time and cant wait for 07/07/07.

we didn't seek anyone out. Spoke with Gavin in the playroom for quite awhile and he was sweet as could be. Audra M was very gracious when we talked with her in the Market Cafe, but we'd met her husband and daughter the day before, so we didn't feel like we were imposing as much.

I was outside the casino with audra DURING THE STORM!! talk about getting to know someone REALLY quick! LOL...poor thing! she was scared to death! I tried to explain to her the beauty and magical force that the waves were giving us during the storm.....she did not buy it for a second LOL....she just stared out the HUGE window.

We saw everyone and got pics too. The only person I really wanted to meet was Kathy Griffin and I didn't get to do that. I think i'm her #1 lesbian fan. I think she's awesome and hope she comes on the July cruise. I love love love her!

I met most of the celebrities on the cruise. I had met Gavin last year so saw him quite often at the pool and in the Stardust. I've known Norm Lewis so he was very approachable. I met Sharon Gless last year and she remembered me. Also the writer of Cagney and Lacey is Jonathan Estrin who is a cousin of mine so we talked about that. Rosie was usually hanging around Gatsbys late at night and she always was sweet to me whenever I ran into her. I also ended up on an elliptical next to Audra but no one wants to talk when they are doing cardio so I just smiled and put on my ipod. The celebrities were around but there were so many more people on this cruise than previous years that it was harder to spot them.

I never thought of myself as a Celeb stalker before- but I have to say the bug bit me when I saw Rosie in the piano bar taking pictures with people. At first I was just going to walk by then someone talked me into it... I was dumbfounded by her presence! My partner wasnt there- so after she asked me what I said to her- NOTHING!! Not HI, Thanks, Love you- NOTHING!!! LOL Needless to say- I realized that there are people that can still dumbfound me!!! Then of course- I saw Sharon Gless in the casino- but pretty much just eyed her from afar- SUCH A CHICKEN I AM!!! And I saw Esera so much I thought he would think I was stalking him... hmmmmm!!!! LOL.
I dont think the picture idea is a bad one though- many times I saw people going up to all of them- asking for pictures, autographs ect. when they were trying to enjoy themselves- maybe this would make it less pressure on them when they are trying to relax.

If I can't borrow the the Safari pumps can I ask about the Ruby Slippers?

:D You go girl-maybe Rosie will put your spot on the view-you were born to be a celeb. Just don't get hoity toity when you become famous-like you know who.
It is just like I told Tyra-we were eating bologna sandwiches by her pool, and I was sewing back her weave with a handi stitch, after it got pulled out in a revolving door. she said" Girl, I am so tired of working the runway" I said " keep your head still, I almost zig-zaged your comb out!" " Why don't you do a talk show" The rest is history.

I too was pleased when Rosie offered to have people come up on stage and have their picture taken with her, because like most of us, I really wanted a picture with her, but also wanted to respect her space. What really blew me away was when my partner and I walked up on stage and over to Rosie, she turned toward me, put out her hand and said "Rosie" as IF she needed to tell me who she was, I had to giggle. I shook hands with her, introduced myself and my partner, she shook her hand, we smiled at the camera, and off we went. Thank you Rosie!!

I likewise feel celebs deserve their private time, so I was excited when Rosie did her "photo shoot" on the stage. Unfortunately we had to catch dinner before a shore excursion into Victoria, B.C. so we missed out on it. I hope they'd do any "Meet & Greets" on a sea day when people wouldn't miss out due to shore excursions.

I have to say...on the Alsaka cruise the celebs were out n'about A LOT! I too felt a little like a stalker. I just didn't see Rosie as much as the year before. I did get my pic with her at the photo op which was awesome! I also loved getting my pic with the Sesame St. peeps they were WONDERFUL. I have both of this pics in my classroom and my kids have asked me about them. I smile and said, I met them this summer on a cruise. :p Love it!
I think organized photo ops would be great and $$$ going to charities would be great. Good idea.
