Hello Everyone,
Ok this is going to be one of the most difficult blog entries I have ever written but most of you that read my blog entries will understand and for those who don’t, please know that I have and always will have the outmost respect for rosie , I truly believe she is one of the most funniest ladies of comedy of all time and smartest , to me she has the same abilities as Lucille Ball and knowledge of what entertainment should be like, but , when I first found out about Rosie’s variety show you all know I started to post on this forum about how happy, how lucky and how I wished I could win tickets to her show and just about everyday how it got closer to the air date and couldn’t wait to sit and watch rosie, though I was still at work on november 26, and I had the TV turned on so everyone could watch but I had to do what it took to support rosie no matter what, and I did. So this is where it gets difficult for me,
Ok I watched the show with friends and co workers at my job and as I watched I said, something is not right so when I got home Michael already made me a DVD of the show “without commercial’s – lol – so I watched it again and again and again and to say the least the show I thought I was going to view was not the same that my mind thought it was going to see.
After viewing it, I thought the show would have been more on the order or types like sonny & cher - carol burnette – hee haw – the dean martin variety show – even captain and Tennille had a variety show, if any remember that or flip Wilson to say the least. But it wasn’t and I was very disappointed and sad for it felt like Rosie was setup to fail. Don’t know by who or what force around her but, I would have thought that what rosie does for a show on the cruise for some 2000 of us that we all love and makes us laugh, at the same point it would not work as a primetime show and also a chance to come back to TV every week with a show that would knock everyone off there feet. Yes some have said that rosie always has her friends around her and for the first time I wish I had been part of that circle of friends for I would have said “ RO,THIS IS NOT THE VARIETY SHOW THAT WE ARE USE TO SEEING BACK IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS “
I thought knowing that Liza with a z “lol “ we love her and we are going to go and see her show on December 10th can’t wait. LoL, had to put that in there..lol but anyway I would have thought that the opening number might had gone something like this, picture it , the variety show is located in Manhattan, in a BROADWAY theater, AWESOME FOR STARTERS, the lights go down, nice and dark, the spot light goes to one end of the big certain, the music starts to the theme of new York, new York and most would think that Liza would come out since we all know she’s on the show but out comes rosie in tux & tails with top hat and cane, of course trying to sing new York new York, doing her thing for a minute or so then have Liza come out with similar outfit and let the show being“, you get what I mean with that, I mean its new York, trying to bring back a variety show, and having a great entertainer like Liza and some of the lyrics in new York, new York says “ if I can make it there, I can make it anywhere “ well this would have been a great moment for everyone around the country feel like that everyone at that moment was in new York with Liza and rosie on stage feeling that energy instead I don’t know who picked that number they did but it just didn’t work and it came across the screen that way.
They are so many many many things, “ did I say many yet, lol” … that could have been done to that whole show that even for me that I am not a writer could have put together skits to incorporate the artist to make it fun, people laughing, rosie able to get her comedy across without using the likes of Donald trump, Nancy grace or any other that we have seen feuds in the past with. “ Let the sleeping dogs lay where they are “
But anyway, I have read some of the post from others on here and it took me a few days to decide that I had to write something about the show given that I was posting something just about everyday and I didn’t want to make it seem I wasn’t caring enough to speak how I felt but I also wanted for thanksgiving to go by so I didn’t hurt anyone’s feelings if this post entry would be taken out of context.
I really think that Rosie needs to do it again, this show is not what Rosie is about, you can see it, and feel it. But please if anyone knows rosie personally on here let her know that though even if only 5 to 6 million people viewed her show, most of those millions where us boat people…LOL, ok not that many of us, but the point is, millions were expecting an old time variety show like we had back in the days which I least remember, “ THE 70’S “ sorry before that I wasn’t living in America, and first got here in 1970 , but the mass amount of the audience that night across America were expecting an old taste of good television and they didn’t receive it, so now more than ever rosie, needs to do it again and I know those 5 or 6 million views will turn into 10 times more than that.
AND PLEASE TELL ROSIE I WANT 2 TICKETS TO THE SHOW FOR THE NEXT ONE….
Ok sorry that this thread has turned into a short novel but this is my problem once I start I cant stop, and I really want everyone to know that Michael and I got involved with the r family cruises because we heard it on the view a few years ago from rosie when she joined the view and thought wow, this would be great to be with thousands of people just like us and get a chance to either see or meet rosie, WHICH I STILL HAVE NEVER MET..LOL…only for a second and that’s it. But we have met and gotten to know Kelli a little and we love her, of course Gregg, don’t know what to say about him except that he is a living doll and does whatever in his powers to make every trip a success and cares for all of us boat people. And the rest of the r family team awesome group.
Ok one last word, I really believe in the “ YES YOU CAN “ slogan so again if anyone knows rosie please tell her for us “ DO IT AGAIN, IT WILL WORK – 2nd TIME AROUND IS TRULY BETTER THAN THE FIRST “ I will gladly give any thoughts and ideas we have, and trust me we have tons of them..lol… since I was a kid I always had a dream for a show like Rosie has. Maybe she can incorporate BLOG WRITERS for her show and we can all do our part and help out. I WANNA BE A BLOG WRITER…LOL..
