Hey--I just came across this posting from Gregg---it's the one I have been waiting for re: booking hotel rooms with others from our cruise. So, are these prices based on single occupancy? I wasn't sure how to interpret how the prices were listed. Has anyone booked any of these places yet?

The prices are in a grid - by number of nights and number of people in the room, it's just a little hard to read.

I've called RFV and left a message about booking a room but have not gotten a reply yet.

Good Morning, We booked at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel - for three of us, it is $269 each for three nights. We picked it due to the location and it has a pool (our daughter is a fish in disguise!!lol) We are very excited for July!!:)

Where is this hotel (Renaissance) in relationship to Pier 66?

Do you know if the hotel has parking available for the week we are gone on the cruise or will we have to move our vehicle over to the cruise parking lot?

I live in Seattle and was in the travel business for many years. If you have any questions about where to stay, where to park, where to eat or want to put together a meetup before the cruise, please contact me.

The hotel is located off of I-5 and just a tad over a mile from the pier.

The hotel charges for parking and at this time the price is $28.00 daily.

Last time we were in Seattle we had Dinner at the SEAFOOD place right there by the PIER.
I believe that I voluntered ASHES ( Steppanie) to put together the Pre Cruise meet n Greet.
If you are a local and you are volunteering to help.
Thanks can't wait to meet you.

So, I've been checking rates at the hotels offered by R Family and Ican book them at rates considerably lower on my own. Even adding the extra cost for transportation to the ship, it still seems less expensive to book it myself. If you have used R Family before to book your hotel, is there another advantage of booking through R Family that I am not aware of?

While R Family is doing the booking of this by adding to your reservation, I actually think that this is through NCL and in most cases it's not a good deal to book your hotel through the cruise lines if you're looking to save money. They are usually higher as they get a cut. You can do better on your own if you shop around.

I don’t know about the other hotels but these rates for the Renaissance are better than what I could find on-line; I also called the hotel directly. The crazy bit is; every other Thur. Sat. combination for the entire month of July (including the 4th) was considerably lower than the weekend that we are there. They couldn’t tell me why; just that’s the rate for that weekend. I also tried to use my Marriott Rewards card to get the standard 10% discount and they told me that could not apply it during the dates that I am booking for.

Not sure if this is a conspiracy theory or just strange hotel antics any maybe I just still so bitter over Prop 8 passing but the Marriott was a huge contributor to the Yes on 8 peeps. Are they trying to cash in on us???

Seattle has a lot of conventions during the Summer.Last time we left from there I that was the case and rooms were higher than other dates. They were a huge ciontributor to Prop 8?
Are you sure? I willl have to check into that before I book.

Personally I believe that he is trying to cover his butt with a loophole skirting around the real question. While Bill Marriott himself has said he didn’t donate to Prop 8, the fact of the matter, and clear public record, is that his other family members have, and documented franchise owners have as well.

One of Prop 8’s top donations came from Brent Andrus, who owns and runs four Marriott Hotels. Financial records disclosed by the LDS Church showed they spent several thousands of dollars at the very same Marriott Hotel that Brent Andrus owns a month prior to Prop 8 being passed in order to facilitate their “war plan.” And as a devout Mormon, Bill Marriott is required by the LDS Church to tithe 10% of his income annually. 10% of that income which went, whether he directly supported it or not, to get Prop 8 passed. Prop 8 was staggeringly supported by Mormons; estimates put their financial contributions at 77% of the 39.9 million raised to get it passed.

I am not trying to drag everyone down here; truth is I am still bitter and found it ironic that the rates were so much higher for the dates we’re there. I am going with your assumption Cheryl; a Convention.. That’s much easier to swallow.

We just booked two rooms using priceline.com at the Springhill Suites down town near the Space Needle. The do not provide a shuttle and are located 18 miles from the airport and not far from the pier. But if you have a few people it is a suite set up with a bedroom and pull out sofa. I used $75 and went down to 2 1/2 stars using the Space Needle area selection. Once I was confimed I checked the website for the hotel and the smae room was $239.

Thanks Tigger!

Just got a nice room also for $75/night. Close to the Space Needle, Aquarium and Pike Place.

Also, flights from NYC to SEA (non-stop) decreased by $75 this week--r/t coach for $277 on Continential.

Lastly--for the NYC Zip Car members--locations close to the hotel at about 1/2 the NYC cost (but I do not know what parking is like in Seattle though).

Nearby Points of Interest of Springhill Suites--

Washington State Convention & Trade Center - 4 blocks
Downtown shopping district - 5 blocks
Seattle Center / Space Needle - 1 mile
Experience Music Project (EMP) - 1 mile
Pike Place Market - 1 mile
Seattle Aquarium - 1 mile
Pioneer Square - 1.5 miles
Safeco Field - 2 miles
Qwest Field - 2 miles

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA): Approximate distance to SpringHill Suites by Marriott Seattle Downtown is 15 miles.

Thanks for the Priceline tip. We are flying in a few days before the cruise to take in Seattle (we have never been there) and I couldn't believe how pricey those hotels are. Also got the Westin for $135. Thanks again!

Our friend Laurie got the same deal. She did 135 for a 3 star and it gave her Westin also. That is a bargain price. I looked everywhere and could not find Westin for less than 229.00

Sure you can honey.Jusy go to Priceline.com.The instructions are quite easy. You pick an area what you would like to spend and they match you up.The downside is you have to take where they put you.If you pick 3 stars they will look for something in the three star catagory. You could end up with a four star at a three star price. You are locked in once you bid.I use ponits from my toooooooo many credit cards and stay at the Marriot free!!

I just tried Priceline.com for the Westin at the $135 rate and it would not accept it. Then I tried $140 and it would not accept the change in $$$....the site asked me to change either the hotel rating or the location. So, I had my wife enter her info on our family computer on Priceline.com at $140/night and it accepted it. I had called the hotel just before doing this and they quoted me $329 then $299 per night!

The Westin is now $147 if you are bidding on Priceline for a 4 star hotel in Pikes.
