My partner Amy and I are travelling with our two daughters--3 yrs (Lili) and 7 mnths (Maura). We have travelled with R Family before so we know what to expect. However, we have never travelled with a puree eatting, NOT sleeping through the night baby. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll be a late crawler cause I can bet that travelling with a stationary baby is a lot easier that travelling with a moble one.
Can anyone offer any advice on cruising with a baby? Is there anything that we absolutely need to bring or don't need to bring?
Thanks,
Suzie--stressed out and sleep deprived

I would say (we have a 2, 4 and 6 year old and travel a ton) that the less you bring the better. Get a couple of new things that will only be brought out after the plane takes off (a book, a little toy to hold) . The less you have the easier it is - I really believe this. Be ready to pace the aisle, don't drink anything other than water beause you will have spills for sure and anything other than water is NO FUN, donlt let the baby get too hot as that makes them especially cranky on the plane with the stale feeling air...I think that covers it. Bring minimal carry on...trust me...:)

Hi Suzie,
Our son is 5 years old and over the past couple of years we have traveled with him to St. Martin, Hawaii, Puerto and our first flight with him coming home from China.
I have two pieces of advice.
First, bring your carseat. It's a pain to lug but worth it. Your child is most likely accustomed to being in the car seat and not being allowed to roam the car while you are traveling some where. So on the plane they will likely stay in the seat entertained for a long time.
Second, if possible, start adjusting you childs nap schedule a couple of weeks before the flight to get them to nap mid-flight. This is usually when people calm down, no food is being served and the child can relax and fall asleep for a bit. Our son doesn't nap any longer, but we make sure to wake him up early the day of the flight.
Hope you have a great flight.

I am assuming that we will need to bring our own jars of baby food on-board. Does anyone know if there are refrigerators in the cabins to keep it cool?

Avi,
Yes, there are small fridges in the cabins!

Just some advise-DO NOT PACK THE BABY FOOD IN THE LUGGAGE. Bring it on the carry on,secondary to the cabin prssure is regulated.( If you are flying into Seatle)
I found out the hard way with strained peas-It was like a scene from the exorcist!
