Hi,

I kept my plane reservation to Vancouver, and reserved with NCL for the July 5th cruise out of Vancouver. It's completely refundable, and I have until April to cancel.

There is a calendar conflict with the July 12th - July 18th dates..I can change things but it would be sort of a pain to re-arrange everything..and I don't want to miss Alaska!

Just curious if anyone else was going on that July 5th cruise or thinking about it...

.....I know that the cruises often have "Friends of Dorothy" gatherings on their cruises, and everyone I know always meets other Gay people if they go on "straight" cruises..

In June 2007 my husband and I went on the regular NCL Alaska cruise out of Seattle...the exact same itinerary and ship (Norwegian Star) that rFamily has chartered for the July 11, 2009 cruise.

We had a really nice trip...the ship and ports of call were great, but we definitely felt like we were alone on the trip. There was a posting on board for a "Friends of Dorothy" meeting but we were the only one's who showed. We did meet three other gay men on board but they were, coincidentally, all escorting their elderly wheelchair-bound parents so we didn't get to interact a lot.

At this point we had not yet been on an rFamily cruise but we knew about them...and while we had fun, we kept wondering how much more fun it would be if everyone else were gay or gay-friendly. We then went on the rFamily Mexico cruise and found out...there is absolutely NO COMPARISON!!

If you go on the regular NCL cruise you will probably have a good time...though the entertainment probably won't be anything special...but if there is any way to change your plans and go on the rFamily cruise instead I would HIGHLY recommend you do!!

In case you are still not convinced, I will add that if you have children, this is such a wonderful experience for them to be on board with families like ours, where we can hold hands and be ourselves. All seven of my boys have felt the love from other people on the ship and really understand who rfamily is now. I went on a straight cruise to Alaska last year with my friend, it was cool and great, but like Cheryl said-no comparision. Come with us, you will be glad you did.:o

Hey...I'm straight....and chose the Rfamily cruise hands down over any other and our family cruises a lot...I've been on many cruises. I would change my plans even if it is a pain to do...I guarantee you won't be sorry that you had.
