Well, here we go again, I can see how this can become addictive!

Everyone I speak to tells me that Alaska is beautiful! A friend's assistant told me that she went on a cruise there, and it was the most amazing experience she ever had.

I was just on a flight and the flight attendant was talking about her travels with her husband, and she said (unprompted) that Alaska was just beautiful!

I'm glad to see some mention of the Alaska cruise on the forum. It seems unnerving that there is still no information on the Web site. The expense of a cruise is a big commitment for many of us. We were on the March cruise and received a postcard "announcing" the Alaska cruise nearly six months ago while cruising in Mexico. While on that cruise in March I was told by Kathleen from the r family staff that they would begin booking the Alaska cruise the following week (March 2008) and that someone would be in touch with me.
We love r Family and all that you do, but please update your Web site so we can begin to plan and have confidence that the company has not gone under.

Rumors are flying over on my blog- I've gotten at 2 different unsolicited comments that range from "they are changing the dates and the ship" to "theyve moved their offices to NYC, fired almost all the staff, and are now partnering with Nickelodeon"

My calls to them still just get the voicemail saying the office is closed until Sept 3 and the Alaska cruise goes on sale on the 15th. Anyone talked to them lately? Anyone had their deposit charged for Alaska. Hate to believe these rumors, and would love to be able to tell the world (and readers of my blog) that RFamily is alive and kicking!

Oh no!!! I already got my plane tickets. Fortunately, Cathay Pacific only has a $34 change fee....and the fare has only gone up from $480 to $494...

But.....I'd be hesitant about putting any money into them at this point - ya know?

And given what is going on with the stock market - I think there might be more problems ahead.

Well, if they go belly up, then I'm gonna have a nice long vacation in Vancouver!! Maybe I'll take the ferry to Victoria Island, and going around asking everyone on the ship if they're Gay, and if they want to have coffee together in the cafeteria.

I don't think Gregg would have started a thread just a little over a week ago if they were not planning to go to Alaska since his title states that but they need to do a much better job in the area of communication.

My partner and I were on the Oosterdam when this cruise was announced and to say that we were disappointed in the ship selected is an understatement.

We are ABSOLUTELY sailing to Alaska next summer!!
We have had a couple of tough years but thanks to the amazing support of the R Family guests - we are so excited for next summer!

We will send more details shortly but due to the huge response to our on-board pre-sale we are finalizing details with NCL to sail on the STAR. The Star has many more family-friendly staterooms than the Sun. The Star sails Sat- Sat so most likely instead of sailing on July 4th - we will sail July 11th. We don't want you to miss fireworks. If you have purchased airline tickets, please contact me once it's all official - we''ll work with you. The Star sails from Seattle (not Vancouver).

Kelli and I are thrilled about the great interest in next year's product.

Howdy all,

Now that the cruise may leave from Seattle and it is NOT wound up in the holiday we can go. We would have booked and gotten the early discount (dang) if we had had the new information. Bothers me alot since we have been on 2 cruises where this was offered and now things change (leaving place and dates ) and we can go. So for now we are waiting to hear what has changed before we apply money to anything.

I will get Kelsey to put a counter up this weekend.

Jill here, from the March cruise. Crazy Cheryl emailed me a shout out, so here I am. As much as Bill and I would LOVE to sail to Alaska with R Family, the dates just aren't going to work out for us next summer.

Hopefully, someday, we will be able to go on another R Family vacation. The PFLAG cruise to Mexico was life-changing for us, and we are still basking in the glow of love and light from the ms Oosterdam.

OK well we may make it to the Alaska crusie. I wish it was Mexico leaving from Los Angeles Port but I missed out on that one. I would even like a warm water island tour. I know that the economy is tough so we are starting to put money aside. It is hard around here (here it comes...poor me...$600 less a month due to cuts in programs), just makes me want to work harder so we can see everyone again. Our son will almost be 2 at the time of the cruise and he is walking all over the place so it should be fun. Hi to everyone.

We loved the Alaska cruise when we went two summers ago with R Family. I'm very surprised though that they haven't started selling yet. I hope for all of you that the cruise is a go and R Family continues to offer such wonderful vacations.

Given what is going on in the credit markets now, they may be having trouble getting credit to meet their own payroll and expenses. They did not earn a profit this year, and who knows how much capital they have in the bank.

Also, they need to forecast the expenses and profits for next year - Do you think that things look....(drum roll).....ROSIE?? (get it??)

And then there are the financial issues of everyone has who is going. For example, if they start with layoffs here, I can't book a trip that will eat up a week and a half vacation time....and then get laid off and start a new job by saying..."Oh, I will work my heart out for you and be here night and day...except for July when I have to go on this lovely cruise.....:o

I met a woman on the cruise this summer who took an extra job for a year to pay for the cruise for her and her daughter. Multiply that financial reality by who knows how many people, and there's a problem.

When I was on the fence about this year's cruise, a friend said "You don't know if this cruise is going to be around year after year - charter companies go belly-up all the time....And Rosie's kids aren't going to be kids forever, she might lose interest once they're away in college. If I were you I would just GO!!"

So....I guess if they do post next year, I will definitely go...

But they need to keep people informed, otherwise it's just PFRF (People Freak and Rumors Fly)

Just a quick hello to everybody....I wanted to let you know that yesterday I spoke to someone at the RFvacations office!!! I told him that I have been trying forever to reach someone in the office but noone ever answers. I was assured that the cruise is still on schedule, however, it will be leaving from Seattle, instead of Vancouver and will depart on July 11th. RFvacations is still working out the pricing issues but hopefully in a week or so the prices will be announced and reservations will be accepted.
I too have been concerned about when or if the cruises was going to go in July; so I thought I would share with everybody what I found out yesterday.
I look forward to seeing everyone next summer on the cruise!!!!!!!
Hopefully the stock market won't affect the cruise industry....

Hey Cheryl...here I am...I'm really busy in charge of a Haunted Halls and a all kids show for community theater....I've been doing some tv and radio...most on my view of the elections...that is the way anyone will listen to me...LOL. I'm going to be in NYC for Thksgvg. I'm getting together with many friends during that time....I'll try to drop in on you at your center.

I'm going one way or another...the economy has really affected our business....I'm planning on being there with Eden, who will be 15 by then..

and yes, I am an organizer, too, now that everyone that knows me knows....I have a friend in Seattle that I think would help us organize a dinner...if we have someone going on the cruise that is doing it fine...otherwise I'll get with her and have her start looking for a precruise dinner place with prices, etc.

Hey...what are the guys names of the guys that are from Ft. Lauderdale and dance with us...I know they told me, but I have CRS...and don't remember their names. How about the two guys, the one works for Julliard and the other one does ??plumbing..or did I confuse his with Joe the plumber.

I just opened up my night Mentoring program this week.

Hi there...as soon as you log on to Rfamilies. What is wild this time is we recognize faces and the children....Just reinforces how much we love this fam!!

Just finished another year at the youth shelter...always stressful, never knowing how people are going to react/out/in....Again, honoured to be part of their celebration..unknowingly Healing this saddened heart

Love the kids...your kids, my kids, neighbours kids, kids friends...bring them in..takes a village to raise a child...takes a community to raise an adolescent.....So grateful for those who get it!!
