KD, or Ellen. or MLE again would be just brilliant!! Or how about Martha, she could show us how to cook Alaskian salmon:)

We also missed Melissa's performance and when we got home and online, found out she had performed, I just sat and cried. My luggage was still downstairs and I was so sad and hurt. It was days before I got that out of my system without getting a little teary. Still, although I'm sure the performance was the best surprise possible, imagine being a huge fan and missing it!
My partner wasn't feeling well and we went to the cruise store for meds and back to our cabin for some rest.
HOWEVER, there are more important things, right, gang??
Overall - it was a wonderful trip, our second, and we're going next year to Alaska which is my dream destination.
RFamily is incredible. Thank you for all your VERY hard work.

I was worried we would have some disappointed folks with melissa's performance being a surprise, but to be completely honest, her performance was almost just as much of a surprise for the r family team. it was a last minute decision and really felt like the cherry on top of an already almost perfect ice cream sundae of a cruise. i am sorry to those of you who missed her and we will try to be more vocal about any future surprise performances!!
We will be ready to announce our entertainment soon and are thrilled with who we have signed. And who knows, there may be more surprise appearances.
Take care!!

How about Sara Hickman? She's straight, but totally gay friendly (she did a concert with my choir a couple of years ago) and she's wonderful. She also does children's shows. I'd also love to see Gretchen Phillips (http://www.gretchen-phillips.com/), formerly of two nice girls. And, last but not least, Patrice Pike (www.patricepike.com), who can rock with the best or do an acoustic show that will make you swoon, at the drop of a hat.

I saw Babs at a charity event that I went to in Las Vegas, and she was amazing! Seeing her in person made me think of when she was on Rosie's show. That was one of my favorites!! :p
Anyway, I would have to say, Ellen would ROCK!

Just a thought for the future - Catie Curtis - she is a great singer and a lesbian mom of two youngsters! you can check her out at www.catiecurtis.com - actually I believe she met you and rosie at an event (charity?) that she was playing and rosie might have been hosting - she actually told the story about rosie coming up to her and asking why she didn't know her already if she was a singer, a lesbian, and a mom! - which made us laugh out loud - she has played on the october olivia cruises the last couple of years but I think she would be a great "fit" with the r family crew!!
fun loving and always smiling!!!

I loved Melissa and the special feel that her performance offered, but I have to say that the Broadway performers that night BLEW DOWN THE HOUSE. I will never forget Ledisi (sp?) and Anika Larsen and Gavin Creel and the whole group of folks that truly belted that night. While Melissa was a wonderful addition, those people put on one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen. I'd love to have that again!

Of course, MELISSA! (and Tammy) Goes without saying!!!!!
Long stretches, but what the heck:
Bette Midler (and her family). She is so beautiful, a heart of gold. My partner adores her. She is an absolutely amazing woman on and off stage. She and Esera would be so cute together (native islanders!)
Martha Stewart (and former employee Art Smith!) We adore the woman! She's such an icon!
Wynona! Another true woman with a heart of 14k! Mary Chapin Carpenter. Sugarland!
(for a chuckle, see if Kenny Chesny would come along!) - Hey, I said it was a long stretch!
Garth Brooks and Tricia Yearwood. Hm... maybe the Equality Rocks reunion!
One thing is for certain, no matter who is onboard, it's top notch, always! ;)

I hope Liz Calloway will be back and hopefully she will do more than one show. We bought her album, the beat goes on, and listen to it to bring back the wonderful memories of the cruise.

From some good sources, I'd tell all of your friends NOW to book for Alaska, if they haven't already. Once the entertainment announcement is made, the ship will sell the few remaining rooms very quickly!
24601 - I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I can only imagine what a great time an RFamily cruise is. :D
I have had several friends go on the last two, and have spoke very highly of the whole experience. They DID get to see Melissa and of course they were just flabergasted at the surprise. It sounded neat!
My wife and I are still considering the Alaska cruise, but I must say if that happens ... myself on that ship will be entertainment enough. However ... I would love to see the dolphin whisperer (aka Rosie) on stage performing, and of course Melissa singing Puff The Magic Dragon would be riveting.
I also hear that there's going to be a fantastic firework display.
Nice site to visit here.:D

Oh Margaret you are such a tease! Fess up what you know or else! (Actually I hope its not Madonna, her music does nothing for me)

If it is Madonna, Willie and I will just squeal with excitement. As gay men, she is just hard-wired into our psyche. I "came out" dancing to her music and she has been such an advocate for our community. It would be great too if she was bringing her kids on the cruise too. I'm sure the entertainment will be fantastic - no matter what...but the suspense is killng me.

Hmm, there are all these "straight" female icons for gay men (Madonna, Cher, Cyndi, Bette). Who are the male counterparts for Lesbians?

We found out one of the performers! But we're keeping it quiet amongst a few couples here in Fort Lauderdale!

It would be nice if the performances could be broadcast over the ship's televisions. This would allow sleep folk to watch from bed, and families with toddlers to watch on a TV in the toddler room.

Lots of the preformances are rebroadcast during the next few days over the ships tv. Not as they are happening, but you are able to see them on tv. They have been for the past 2 cruises. :-)

Now hang on ...don't anyone think that if Bette or Cher or Madonna show up on this cruise you are going to be able to keep me and Willie and our 2-1/2 year old and infant out of the theater to see them! :p
I have heard it from a good source (Colleen) that kids in strollers and babes in arms are allowed and welcomed at the performances. That said, I think we all know when to head out the door if a child is acting up or creating a disturbance.
After all, this is a family cruise!

There were only a couple comedian performances where children were not welcomed. Because of the language. On one show, there was a 5 year old in the front row, and the comedian was using language and stories not appropriate for a child, and she made it known that it bothered her. These shows are generally later at night...10, 11.....so most likely children will not be there, but I know children are not 'refused entrance' into any of the shows. All of the highlight shows.....Cyndi Lauper, Melissa, the Broadway Belters, etc etc etc etc......are very appropriate to bring children, and all of the parents have been wonderful with their children, and it was always a wonderful experience.
Yes, it is a family cruise, and children were welcomed at all events.
Many of the major hightligh shows were shown twice, uisually like 7 and 9, and lots of times there were many children at th earlier one and way less children at the later one. Just an observation.

Hi,
We have a wonderful performer from Vancouver BC that now lives in San Franciso. She is straight but a hugh supporter and friend of the community. She has given endless hours to AIDS and other charities.
Her name is Kim Kuzma and her website is www.kimkuzma.com
She has a large following and may be something to think about. Kim is a great singer and puts on a great show, she is also very funny!
Kim is also performing at Gay Ski Week in Whistler if anyone is coming out here for that, she is worth checking out...:p

I second the Laurie Berkner idea! My daughter would go nuts!
Either her or Dan Zanes???
