Hi, my name is Mandi and I am 20 years old. I am from Buffalo New York and I am straight. I have always been a Rosie fan and loved her in everything shes ever participated in. I was excited to hear about the Rosie's All Aboard Family Cruise, and probably watched the re-runs at least 10 times. There were many parts that made me laugh, cry and want to do something to help. I am currently writing a book which is lesbian/gay based. Because i am not a lesbian i have been doing much "research" by using my gay and lesbian friends for advice, ideas and creative input.
But this is not the reason why I am posting today. My two best friends are gay and very open about it. I feel, its 2006 and people should accept it. Watching that special made me realize how wrong I was. I could not beleive there was so much hate from people out there. Then i seen SHIRLEY PHELPS ROPER on Fox News....which made me very, very upset. And because of that i posted something on my "myspace page" and i thought i would share it here too. Sorry if it seems hateful, its not what I am trying to do, I was just very fustrated. So here is what i have to say to all you protesters out there:
1. I dont care what anyone else says, you DO NOT choose to be gay you just are. And for you dummies who think being gay is a choice, think of it this way....Would you choose to get bashed because of ur sexuality, would you choose to never have equal rights which include marraige, would you choose to make your life harder and not to be able to have kids because a effed up president says its unconstutional? I guess if we choose to be gay, we choose all of that stuff too.
2. To you religious freaks...NOT ALL GAY PEOPLE ARE CATHOLIC. You have the freedom of speech and religion, leave it at that. You dont want to hear people preaching their religion to you, so in turn, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!
3. Lets say you are catholic, lets say you believe in "God"....that is great.....HAVE YOU EVER MET HIM PERSONALLY?! Anyone can write a book and said someone else said it, especially when its like 239032389 years old. No one is alive to verify what actually happened. Doesnt science always find reasons and quams about why some of this things in the bible arent true. Maybe Jesus was gay and the real reason he was crucified was because of that...you dont know, you werent there, YOU DONT TALK TO GOD, stop saying "god says..." stop speaking for someone else, or we will start saying SHIRLEY PHELPS ROPER said "i love women".
4. Ok, so if God really is against gays....ok, and? Who cares?...if thats the truth, when they die, God will take care of the situation...It is NOT up to you to make their lives miserable down upon earth...God didnt tell you to do this so stop. It is NOT your job to say what god says, they will be taken care of at the pearly gates if it is true.
5. To those of you who waste your breath rallying against gays...we applaud ur effort to look like a true dumb a$$. You speak hate and use God's name to back yourself up. If you want to speak hate, USE YOUR NAME on the poster. Instead of GOD HATES GAYS, write SHIRLEY PHELPS ROPER HATES GAYS! If your so into your beliefs about the situation you wouldnt need to use someone elses name to justify what you are doing. Start putting your name on the posters, or are you too afraid?
6. To you selective readers..you only focus on the bible for the things you want to interpret...there are so many contrdictions in the bible that dont make sense or add up right. The Bible was not written in our language, it was interpreted...who knows, the interpreter could have added, taken out, and fooled around with the true version. The language barrier is so hard to interpret when languages change daily...new words, new meanings. *** means a bundle of sticks, yet its also a derogatory statement against homosexuals. Gay means happy but its a term to identify a male homosexuals...the same thing could have been true back then and they choose to write it to their language at that time which is 2380382048894 years ago.
7. Well, didnt things change quickly!!!! Homosexuals are not the top of the list on those infested with STD or HIV/AIDS.....HETEROSEXUALS ARE...and who were the few people who purposely gave like 15 girls AIDS, KNOWINGLY???? HETEROSEXUALS!!! You want to get technical, so can they.
8. Your suppose to preach love, and all of that good stuff...yet heterosexuals commit adultery, murder, lies, all of that like EVERYONE ELSE. Oh, but you protestors dont focus on that. Just abortion and gays.
9. Showing up at funerals for gay soldiers, ya thats good. If you think its so wrong that he way gay, fine, thats your belief. But what gives you the audasity to show up at the funeral? The families of those soldiers (or anyone) did nothing wrong. The reason gays dont show up to funerals for someone against their beliefs is because they have respect and tact. Something you protesters dont have.
10. Adoption. If it wasnt for gay families, the adoption rates wouldnt be where they are. Gays and Lesbians are adopting children, the children you HETEROSEXUAL crack head teens mothers keep producing and cant afford to take care of. If your so against gays and lesbians adopting children, why dont you start at the root of the problem and stop these unwanted children from being made...ya the task is too big for you to handle isnt it? So i guess you just take the easiest route and pick on the GOOD, LOVING people who adopted these poor children.
I dont know what to believe as far as religion goes, and i dont know what will happen to me when i die. But i dont want people to tell me what will happen to me, cuz they dont know. All i know is while i am on Earth i never want to speak such hate in the name of someone else. I do not have the right to pass judgement on someone based on something you cannot control.
