I am a 25 year old (single, childless) heterosexual female in nyc.
I watched the All Aboard! special on HBO this weekend and want to commend Rosie and Kelli for their vision and for granting us all access to such inspiring stories.
This is a special that should be seen by everyone in this country - not as a documentary on what it is to be a GAY parent, but a documentary on what is to be a PARENT. In a world where physical and sexual abuse is all too prevelant this is a special that demonstrates the definition of good parenting - compassion, guidance, love, patience, self-sacrifice and JOY.
If only every parent on this planet treated their children as beautifully as these men and women do - and looked at them as the gifts that they are, with awe and appreciation - this world would be less full of war, hate and contempt.
The fact that it is even up for debate whenever two loving, stable, nurturing people want to be parents is beyond comprehension to me. It seems as though most heterosexual men and women are the ones that should have to go through the background checks and the other demeaning BS before they can have children.
Bless you all and please know that there are countless people like myself out there who support you and will do everything our economic and political powers grant us to give you all the rights that every human being deserves.
