Hi All!

My friends (an older couple with teenage granddaughter) are going to Alaska this summer and have asked me about shore excursions. I told them what I did and they are going to go on the train in Skagway. I went dogsledding in Juneau and Adventure carting in Ketchikan, which they can't do.

Did anyone have great excursions they would like to share that my friends might like? I told them I would ask everyone and let them know. Thanks for your help!!

Been there twice. The best excursions were, in order of awesomeness, the helicopter walkabout tour, the zipline tour, renting a car and driving to Emerald lake (instead of the train in Skagway). If I could only do one thing it would be the helicopter tour, simply incredible!!!!!!!!!

We've been to Alaska twice and not that the helicopter is not great we had a bad experience with an engine light coming on and having to make an emergency return. But aside from that a great excursion is to rent a taxi for 2 hours, we had five people and it ran around $25 per person. We told the driver what we wanted to see and he added the rest including recommending a great little inexpensive restaurant. We learned the history , went to a Glacier, Gold mine, Salmon breeding farm, saw more eagles then we could count as well as other sites.
