Hi all! We are embarking on the wonderful journey of adding to our family. My wife and I are looking at all of our options and for us it seems that a sperm bank would be the most optimal route for us as we do not have a personal donor or would know how to go about setting that up lol. For those that have used a donor bank, are some better than others? Unfortunately for us there isn't one in OK and we will either have to have it shipped to us or drive to Austin (closest one). How do you know what is a good bank and what isn't?

We are really looking forward to expanding our already wonderful family (we each have one child from previous relationships) and welcome any information that can be provided.

our family cruised 7/7/07 and I was doing my random forum check when I found your post. It seems our families have alot in common. My wife and I are going to TTC soon and each have a boy from a previous relationship - You can check us out on our blog or private message me to swap info about what we know so far...

We used Fairfax Cryobank. Our fertility doctor gave us our choice of sperm banks and we just happened to pick that one, no real reason other than we found a donor we liked. At our doctor's office you really don't have a lot of contact with the sperm bank. We just picked it out and ordered it and then it was delivered to our doctor's office.

I also did check out California Cryobank, but I found that they seemed to run out of specimens pretty quickly. One good thing about California Cryobank is that they had alot of options in terms of ethnicity if that's important to you. Fairfax has Jewish donors, but I remember that Cal. Cryobank had more options.

Fairfax also offers adult pictures of the donors as well as baby pictures.

This is my first time on this blog. I have always hoped to find a venue of this kind.

Let us introduce ourselves. My name is Raymond, and Albert and I have been partnered since 1976, and we have been married since 2003. That year, our son, Wade was born.

Our lives have been filled with love for each and service to others. For professional reasons, Albert and I were an "open secret" to certain family and friends. Then, in 2003, I suffered a heart attack and had a quadruple cardiac bypass graft. Our outing was a marriage out in the open in Toronto, in the same venue, different building, that my parents received their licence decades before.

Last year, while on a routine examination or "stress test", my cardiologist noticed a tumour on my right inguinal node. I am still fighting Stage IV non-Hodgkins lymphoma, although I am mercifully in remission at this time. Our Lord has been kind to two who served Him for many years.

I guess that this is probably too long, other than to say that we are living in the States with both our new and altered careers, and in a Red State as well. The only advantage is that it is a university town and probably the most "liberal" in the state.

Thank you in advance for reading and sharing. Raymond, Albert and Wade.
