I cried when I saw gay and lesbian families free to express their love openly without judgement.

I cried when I saw five adopted children say a blessing during their fathers' holy union ceremony.

I cried when I saw the welcoming way the city of Key West opened its arms to the passengers.

I cried when I saw the protesting in Nassau and seeing children upset because they don't understand why people are shouting at them.

I cried when I, a follower of Christ, witnessed other "Christians" spewing hate and not love to the passengers.

I cried when I saw beautiful teenage childrend raised by gay parents praise them and thank them for all the love they have shown them.

To all of you wonderfully courageous gay families out there--may God continue to bless and strengthen your families and relationships. It is my prayer that one day very soon that equality in marriage will be available for ALL.

Thanks for reading this long rambling post. I was so moved I just had to write!

I just saw as well. I had too watch it at two seperate times due to other commitments. I agree, this was a very moving ,wonderful story. You just can't help but see and feel all the love and caring. I grew up in a very dysfunctional, quote typical family and you know what ....it was horrible. I would have loved to have had two of the many gay or lesbian parents in my life. What I saw was normal....what I lived with two hetrosexual parents was hell.

It's wonderful to have straight friends like you! I think you "get " it...we don't want to be treated in any special way, but just as one would treat any other family. We are simply parents trying to raise our kids in a safe, peaceful environment. We want the same things for our children that all parents want.

Jeanette - Your post was beautiful and moving!

jb7143 - I think that people who have experienced adversity are much more able to have empathy towards others. You have taken your past experiences, and have turned them into learning points that enabled you to become a caring, open-minded person. Bravo to you!

I just watched the documentary on HBO... I'm not gay, but your group has my fullest respect and support for your goals of equal rights. The phrase, "Home is where the heart is", I feel also applies to families... God bless you all!

I think that people who have experienced adversity are much more able to have empathy towards others.

I completely agree with you on that....

I'm straight, disabled, and married, and I watched the HBO documentary and smiled the whole way through it....smiled because I saw so much love, so many happy kids, and such contentment....I know what it's like to be in an adversarial position in the world and could totally empathize with what the cruise meant to the families who attended.

My company is focused on diversity inclusion...how's that for an oxymoron???

I am straight, with a black husband, 2 mixed step children, and my own biological white son. I have expereince some resistants, stares and whispers around me with every new job or meeting new people. Similar to coming out of the closet for being a homosexual, I have to come out of the closet for haing a black husband. Why do anyone have to come out anyway? Why can't we just live and be in love with whom ever we wnat to be anyway?

My brother in law is gay he and his lover may want to have a child someday. I say great, go for it. Hell I'll give them an egg or 6, if they need it I would be honored to be there surrogate mother for them.
I thought this documentary was great and I cried, smiled, laughed and cried some more. I hope it showed people that gays are not in the same league as immoral people or sexaul deviants. If I had a penny for everytime I fight with my mom, I would be a millionaire I hope it showed people that we are all the same and want the same for are families.

Well, let me get off my high horse and say THANK YOU to you and your familes for having the courage to share your life with us. I wish I had the money to go on the cruise with you all it would be an honor.

Thank you
