I think there are a lot of very rude people on here. I cant believe the way some of you are talking, and belittling everything that RFamily has done. Ok, sure, there are improvements that can be made, and RFamily is always looking to improve what they can do for us, but the way some of you talk, it is a miracle that they want to do anything at all. Some of you are the rudest people that I have seen, I felt like I was on some of the AOL comment boards where people are rude, mean, inconsiderate, and so many other things.
Yes, there is a place for postive and negative feedback, there was a bunch of negative feedback after the Alaska cruise, about the overcrowding, and the way that some people felt that they didnt get what they paid for, long lines and long waits, with child care being difficult...with sooo many families on board, the child care staff was overwhelmed, but they did the best that they could with so many children. I, for one, felt that the teens got shoved around and did not have a place where they could hang, because of the many many younger kids, but RFamily listened, and although I was not on the past 2 cruises, I did not hear complaints like that, so maybe it was something that was addressed.
But the negative feedback from that cruise, and from any previous event, was just that...negative, constructive, frustrated, but not mean and rude. I dont think there is any place for rudeness and meanness in RFamily, I certainly havent seen the staff act like that toward anyone...either now, or in the past, and I think they deserve the same respect.
Before RFamily there was not a lot of choice for things to do as a gay family. Yes, there was family week at PTown, but that is not the most child friendly place either, and Im sure there were other gay events about the country, there are Olivia cruises for lesbians, and other cruises for gay men, and a couple Olivia events for families, but there was not a lot to do for families, and for other children to see families like theirs. I was on the first cruise, and was proud of all that I saw happening. I was on the 2nd and 3rd cruises also, and although I couldnt go on either of the past 2 cruises, I will be on next summers cruise. My teenager looks forward to meeting with his friends, and making new friends, and being able to be with other families that are like his.
Ok, maybe the PTown event was not a success...ok, but each time they do another event they get better, and land based events are just beginning. At least we have some events that are for us, for our families, where we can be ourselves and have a good time with friends and family, and not worry about the outside world for a few days. I was not at PTown, I can only read what happened there, the other event in Philadelpha seemed to be a success, and more land based vacations are being planned. RFamily has only been in existence since 2003, and I think that there has been a lot offered in that short of a time. Maybe they are expanding too fast, and cant keep up with the large group of people interested in what they are doing, maybe they should slow down and not offer so much, maybe that would make some of you happier, so they could concentrate on only a few events, and maybe you would be lucky enough to be able to attend one of them.
I did not mean to make this post so long, but I have been reading what some of you are writing, and the way you are writing it, and getting more and more angry and frustrated all the time, and ashamed that RFamily has tried to do something for our families, and some of you are acting like spoiled children who are not getting their way, throwing temper tantrums and harping on the same things again and again. I think RFamily got the point with what you are disappointed with, angry about, frustrated with, without all the negativity that you keep spewing.
I plan on having a good time on next summers cruise, and if somethings dont go the way I would like, I will stilll have a good time. And if I feel it is something that needs to be addressed, I will write to Gregg or Kelli about it, but not demean them and RFamily here on the site. I really am ashamed at some of the comments, and I think so many of you are intent on giving RFamily a bad rep because you didnt get what you wanted. And that bothers me a lot.
