I was wondering how important is the entertainment for people. Would they be less likely to cruise if Rosie wasn't going? Would they cancel if there were no entertainers they wanted to see? I realized I was very disappointed ( as would be my family) if Rosie and her family weren't involved. Also I know when I booked July 7/7, none of the entertainment was the draw. I enjoyed all of the shows I went to, I enjoyed myself completely, but freinds I made on the cruise stated they were paying for the entertainment more than the R Family experience. Just wondering...

I was thinking the same thing as I was looking at the last picture I took on R family vacation, it was Rosie, Parker, Chelsea and Blake getting into their cars at the ship terminal on 7/14/07...I was still waiting for my ride, LOL, she was tired as hell and it showed. She was the draw but my family had gotten so wrapped up in R vacation that it didnt matter why we were making memories...we just were. I am very grateful to Kelli and Greg for their vision and look forward to more cruises.

Honestly, Rosie was the biggest seller for me...which is not so good in case there's a cruise she's not on. But paying all that money to see Rosie and everything else was definitely worth it. If not, I would have just sailed on NCL without the charter for MUCH cheaper...but as I said, ROSIE and all of the families made it worth it! :)

I must say that none of the entertainers that were scheduled for July 07 really thrilled me when they were announced. Having said that, the entertainment was top notch. Each act was a delight and I thoroughly enjoyed every one. Now, compared to the entertainment usually scheduled on cruise ships, it's worth every extra penny.

Personally, I think it's nice that Rosie is involved, but she's definitely not the main draw for my family. I personally am not a Broadway fan (my partner says my gay card should be withdrawn). But, the shows are top notch and entertaining even to me!

The main draw for us is the ability to bring our 4 kids on a vacation where they can experience other families in like situations. Any other NCL cruise would be filled with people who might not be accepting of our lifestyle. My partner and I wouldn't feel comfortable holding hands, putting our arms around each other in the theater, etc. I feel it's so important for our children to see that they aren't the only ones with gay parents, there are many many families with a similar makeup.

We went on the March cruise and Rosie was on for a day or 2 and that was it. I could have cared less at this point. We have been on 5 rfamily trips now and a lot of her routine we have heard before. I did think it was funny when she told some of the jokes that involve her kids she just changes who said what to make it more current. Don't get me wrong I enjoy her shows and she is funny but she is not the draw.
I go for the other families and I really enjoy the entertainment. I was a little worried when Judy Gold was booked this summer because we had seeen her before but she had almost all new material.
So I guess you could say in the beginning it was some Rosie, some entertainment and some of the enviroment. Now it is more the enviroment. Although other companies are starting to have gay friendly weeks as well for a little cheaper. We will probable stick with rfamily for 2 more years till Zach hits 12 and goes to the higher rate and then we might have to check out some cheaper trips and see how the compare.

Well, since July/08 will be our first cruise...I have to say, Rosie is a huge draw for us! Being amongst her & her family, as well as the entertainment that she may be involved in booking/providing, justifies, for us, spending the extra money to go on this cruise (instead of booking a cheaper cruise with someone else). We do, however, look forward to the opportunity to meet and spend time with other gay/gay-friendly families & individuals, and perhaps this would be our main reason for booking if we had been on a previous cruise, but because we haven't had that experience yet, at this point, our biggest anticipation is seeing Rosie! I'm sure there will be many other reasons in the future for booking, especially after we meet all of you!

We knew from the HBO Special of the first cruise that we wanted to go with rFamily because of the "family" part. No kids here, but just going and being on a ship full of gay/gay-friendly people really appealed to us. Yes - it helped that Rosie's name was attached. But we went in Feb. and she was only there until Tues. We missed her but we did get to see her. But the "family" experience is what we were after. We are planning on March or July again. Hope to see ya'll there!!!!!

Rosie and family are a huge factor for us along with the Broadway and other "name" perfomers. If she and the entertainment weren't there we'd likely just go on "regular" cruises and save a whole bunch of money. I will tell ya it wouldn't be nearly as fun on any other cruise tho. We also love the safe loving family environment and the friends we have made on the last 3 cruises we have been on.

I agree that Rosie nad her headliners and the broadway belters are the reason I would pay extra. For people who have no community to feel safe in I am sure that is the bigger draw. Just wondered how others felt and thought that R Family should know why we go.

The entertainment and Rosie, truth be told, are not a draw for me at all. Not that I don't like Rosie (I do) and I am an avid Broadway fan, as well - but to go on vacation with a ship full of other gay and lesbian families is a HUGE deal to me.

Yes, I am from Oklahoma City, but we have a rather large and involved gay community here. There are other gay parents to be around, etc, but I haven't ever gone on a vacation with my partner and kids where I have felt totally comfortable and having (in the back of my head) worried just a little that the wrong person(s) might get offended and say or do something. I have had it happen to me, but never when my kids were with me and it is just a little (or not so little) thing that is always in my mind.

Being on one of these cruises would allow me to let that guard down. And to have my kids see a bunch of other kids with two moms or two dads would just be awesome.

I think Kelly and Greg are amazing for putting this together and I am thankful that Rosie is involved, so that it continues to grow. But for me, to be with all the other families is why I am interested in going on an R Family cruise.

The entertainment is not the #1 reason that my partner and I decided to try R Family but it is important. I would like to see Rosie do a longer stand up show at least one evening. We enjoyed the first night in the Stardust.

I would like to see a really big headliner next summer. Sorry but Erasure did nothing for us. Did not go to the show but watched it the next day on TV and am glad that we passed. I know that many enjoyed it and that's great. I would like to see more variety. Cut back on the Broadway some and add some new shows. It's hard to please everyone but lets mix it up some.

Also while we are on entertainment, if the show is announced for adults only then parents please leave your underage children out of the theater. I was amazed that some parents brought their young kids to the adult comedy shows. Not only is the atmosphere not designed for them but some kids would not be quite. Not fair to the ones that want to enjoy the show.

I admit that the decision to cruise with rfamily was all rolled up into the fact that Rosie would be on board and associated entertainment would be exceptional. I didn't realize until I got on the ship how much I hoped I'd have an opportunity to meet/interact with Rosie. That didn't happen. Around the second or the third day I was cracking myself up as I found myself thinking "I wonder if she'll be here". Once I totally let go of the issue of who was on board it wouldn't have mattered whether I had a Rosie moment or not. It was just simply a terrific week, great feelings, and the vacation of a lifetime. For me, at least, the entertainment was like a cherry on top of the perfect sundae. Now, I won't say that on the next cruise (not sure which one yet) I won't still hope to have a moment to chat with Rosie. That would be a lie and a half. However, we will go for the love of the experience and not just because I admire Rosie. Randi

It's all about the "family" for us. Entertainment is a plus, but the reason we went on the July '07 cruise and booked for the March '08 cruise is the peace and comfort of being around families like ours. We love it and our kids love it! That said...with the price we pay, I think we expect a certain level of entertainment. And the July cruise didn't disappoint!

It is always nice to see Rosie on the cruise as well as the other entertainers. The most important part of the cruise for me is meeting all of the people. I think that I would still go on the cruise if Rosie wasn't on the cruise and the entertainment is a positive factor in my decisions. This will be our 5th year on the cruise and we always have a great time.

We have booked the July 08 cruise, oddly enough we live in the maritimes, between Halifax and St-John. We have decided to go on the cruise with our son for the experience and the opportunity to mingle with other families, would we like to meet Rosie? Sure, be we have already been warned that she usually only flies in for a couple of days...I have heard that the atmosphere is great! If anyone want a tour guide for the Atlantic ports let us know, we will be sure to help.

Rosie was on the ship the entire cruise in July. I know that she had to leave the Jewel cruise early due to The View and having to be back to work.
