Our son is 4, will be 5 in August but has been reading for 2 years. He reads at a 2nd grade level. It's challanging cause even though he can read just about anything, he doesn't always understan everything he is reading, the plots are sometimes too old for him yet, KWIM?

Yes, my daughter who just finished 3rd grade tested at the 9th - 10th grade level at the end of the school year. She will NOT be reading books that challege her reading abilities, because the content is over her head or just not appropriate for a nine year old. We're quite OK with that.

Go through the bookstore at http://twolives.com for ideas. They have the most comprehensive stock aimed at this audience. They also carry my own book - primarily aimed at ages 2 - 5, but one of the few that does not present gay parents as an issue to overcome.
