how about an all inclusive land vacation, one of the beach resort types? they also seem to have alot to offer for lots of different ages, as long as we would be welcome there. that is somewhere my 13 year old has been wanting to go, but he can't wait for alaska.

I agree! We're in the midwest and traveling to a coast to meet the ship is a significant investment for our travel budget. A land destination might be more affordable, especially because we could probably drive instead of fly or book for a shorter duration, if necessary. Destination resorts have lots of meeting areas for programming, and it would be awesome to have some theme mixers or discussion groups there. I would be thrilled to volunteer to lead some fun activity groups for certain ages, or facilitate fun programming for grownups, or whatever. Two of our family's favorite warm weather resorts are Coronado Springs, Walt Disney World, and Sirata, St. Pete Beach.

The thing about a ship is it is self-contained, so when we are on board we feel we are in a 'safe space' so to speak. A land trip would be good if it was someplace like a ranch or resort that rfamily could lease out in its entirerty.

I wouldn't be against a land resort package, but think there is definitely something special about the cruise atmosphere. The nature of cruise--self-contained but full of excursions--is great. A bubble of gay families/allies going from port to port it pretty cool--and an awesome time.

I agree with the land idea. Much better for those of us who HATE to fly!!! There are many gay friendly/gay focused resorts that perhaps rfamily could take over for a week!

I am new here...and I also like the idea of an all inclusive beach resort location. We have two toddlers that love the beach and we are a little unsure of a cruise for them at this time.

I too would vote for a land vacation something that would maybe be a little more afforable than the cruise. My partner and I would love to go on the cruise but aren't sure when we will be able to afford it. We both love the beach so would certainly be up for that.

I agree with you Lisa -- spread the good times around....LOL :)

Perhaps if Hawaii was a little steep for some, a Mexican Riviera cruise from San Diego might be a possibility?

I agree! I think a west coast trip either leaving from LA or San Diego to the Mexican Riviera would be awesome!

How about Europe! A Medeterrainian cruise would be amazing... and 10 days, not just a week.

Olivia does alot of land excursions, they rent out a Club Med for the week, just like you do with a ship. We have gone to 5 different Club Meds thru Olivia and they were always welcoming. In comparison, the land trips are less expensive than the cruises, and the excursions are not as expensive. If you don't do any excursions, you can still have a great vacation because the Club Meds have so much to offer. Several of them have special things for kids to do, but they were empty because Olivia was doing just women only trips then. So it can be done, hopefully Rfamily will check into this as an option. This will be our first Rfamilyvacation so........ see you all in Alaska!!!

Even tho we would have to come all the way from SoCal, we'd LOVE a Nova Scotia cruise. We are Scottish and would wear our kilts the whole time. ;)

Just a week - I think a year or two sounds more like it!

I just looked back at this one and saw that David M quoted and agreed with me! That was cool! We really do need to know where July 2007 is going soon. I just got my Lattitudes magazine from NCL and the Hawaii trip looks really great! At the "All Aboard" preview in Miami the NCL President talked about the next cruise leaving from NY. At the time we thought they were referring to next summer's cruise, but figured that has to be the Feb 07 cruise, so now we really have no idea where July 07 will go. I still vote for Hawaii!! :)

How do you get a magazine from NCL?

We began getting the NCL magazine in the mail after going on the cruise last summer. You can become a "Lattitudes" member and they assign you a number etc. We also get postcards sharing specials every so often.

56 days 18 hours 24 minutes til we sail :)

We too got it after the cruise last summer. We also have the card from the ship's casino, but I don't know if that had anything to do with it. We both got "Latitudes" cards in mail and now the magazine just shows up! As a reminder NCL does go to Hawaii!! :)
