Just saw Cindi Lauper on the Music awards. I was in the front couple of rows for her show on the 2005 cruise which was amazing. Seeing her just took me back..... to the place where we can be free..............

When I lived in Champaign, IL there was a local performer named Joni Laurence who was really quite good. She's a singer/song writer with several CDs. (She has a web site.) I have several of her CDs. Joni performed at our commitment ceremony. She's a "coffee house/folk" style performer who would be good for those lower-key moments. I'd send you a copy of my CD if you wanted to hear her work. I haven't spoken to Joni in a few years but I know she still performs. For what it's worth -- I thought I'd send along the general suggestion of having "new performers" on the ship along with the folks who are known and loved. I enjoy supporting new talented singers/performers. Of course, there are 1001 other examples of "Joni's", but since I was on the forum I thought I'd share the thought. Have a fabulous Thanksgiving everyone. May it be peaceful. Randi

We will announce an official line up of our entertainment soon but I will tell you that we have hired an amazing group of performers for the kids.... Think "the Wiggles meets Stomp"... they are a group from New Orleans and we'll fill you in later! :)

There is nothing that can compare to little ones seeing characters they "know"...it was so special to see the kids at the Sesame Street show. What a joy!

How about for us big people! Not everyone has or is bringing the kiddies.
In truth I was hoping for more adult oriented activities this year. Given the venue is Alaska, it would be cool to have an environmental speaker or some such person do a few educational talks during the day. But in the evening, less Broadway, more Hoboken. Or how about Cirque du Soleil, how cool would that be!

Melissa Etheridge, officially or not. PLEASE :)
Loved Chef Art Smith (repeat, please).
Oh, and we LOVED Esera's show with the native dancers.
Wiggles meets Stomp - sounds great!
A reunion of Rosie with Penny Marshall? Cher and Chas? (let's stretch, hm?)
Who'd be harder to book - Cher and Chas or Babs and Jason? Get 'em both! Mother and child reunion...
:) okay, JUST melissa!

Bette Midler
Cher
Melissa (again)
Cyndi (again)
for the kids:

If the same performers are on this year as last, I'd love it. Especially would like to see John Tartaglia back and the 3 comedians (Jason, Judy, and Poppy). Broadway stars, and as much Rosie as we can get.

I would love to see the broadway performers such as Gavin Creel, John Tartaglia, Orfeh, Liz Calloway and Darius De Haas.
I would love to see Bernadette Peters as one of the headliners. I agree that Bette Midler would be great.
My only complaint about this past summer's cruise was the date for Cyndi Lauper's concert. It was the one night we could have stayed in Boston until 11:00 and that was the night Cyndi decided to do her concert forcing most of us back on the ship by 7. I wonder if that was her decision or the cruise's.

There is a fabulous extremely talented, singer/songwriter from this neck of the woods that I thing R Family should check out for entertainment....Her name is Becky Chase. I check out every local show when I can get a sitter and am hypnotized every time. She captures every essence of her being and pours it into her songs.

I am so looking forward to this cruise! I have wanted to go the other two years but nothing ever worked out.
I have seen most of the performers on my "Have to See" list. One of the performers I haven't seen yet and would LOVE to see on this cruise is kd Lang. Of course, even though I have seen them, I wouldn't mind seeing Melissa or Cher again ;)

We will have our "almost" 2 year old and would like to have entertainment and activities that she will enjoy. Her birthday is July 4th. We hope there will be enough young children to join us in celebrating.

I have to agree with Single1. Would love to see the same performers as last year and even some more. Some of the most memorable ones I must say include: Judy, Poppy, Jason, John Tartaglia, Kinsey Sicks, CINDY LAUPER and MELISSA ETHERIDGE. I also loved the Broadway Shows. If someone is reading this who has not been on a R family cruise..... just the shows alone make it worth every penny. Cant wait til July!!!

Gotta give a shout out for my girl, the Queen of the "B" List, Kathy Griffin. She loves the gays and the gays love Kathy! Oh...and she should bring Matt along. He's fun too.
Or the Queer Eye guys would be fun. Carson could do poolside fashion makeovers. Ted could do a little cooking thing. Kyan could teach the young men and women on board about good grooming and style. Thom could teach us how to decorate with stripes or take along decor for vacations. And Jai could do anything and everything! The teens would love him and he could do etiquette or self-esteem stuff with them.
Finally, how about Sheryl Swoopes. She could do some basketball stuff with the kids/teens. It would also be a great opportunity for Jordan to connect with some other families like his!

Rufus Wainwright would be awesome, that's who I was going to suggest! Yeah he would be great (even though my friends decry him as a whiner!). I suggested him the first 2 cruises, but obviously he wasn't a go.

Besides kd lang, I thought of another person I have been wanting to see... Suzanne Westenhoefer. WOW, she and Rosie, what a show I think that would be :-)

Isn't Rosie starring in Fiddler on the Roof with Harvey Fierstein right now? He would be awesome too. We saw him in Fiddler last year (before Rosie joined the show) in New York and he was great. It would be fantastic to see them do some numbers from the show together.

I second what schneidface said - Joni Laurence is really starting to make a name for herself around the country. This year she has toured both coasts and extensively in the Midwest. She will have another CD (her 4th) coming out next year (2006). She would be a nice addition to a cruise. Her mellow tones are really romantic.
Just wanted to put my two cents worth in! :-) I would recommend her as an opening act for any of the artists mentioned - my favorites being Melissa Etheridge or Rufus Wainwright.
Also, just as an idea, Joni did a show in Champaign (IL) with Catie Curtis and Patty Larkin this year - that was a great lineup! I would recommend getting the three of them on the same bill if possible. Really nice concert. :-)
